Stairs shape open up massive?

Hi,
I am using Visio Pro 2003 and have been for some time now. I am producing a
floor plan. When I drag a straight staircase from my shapes onto the
document it loads up massively (larger than the page). All my other shapes
load up in the correct proportions.
Any ideas why would be most appreciated.

Try some of the garden accessories they are wild they would not even fit on an a1 sheet
Don't know why but when I shut down the prog and restart they copy ok
It would be great if Microsoft would give answers to these problems
They like to sell us S**t and then expect us to grovel for more of it
If I could count the number times my programs have crashed losing all my work
