I am unable to access stafe mode by using the ctrl, del or F8 keys to access set up, Windows ME continues to come up. I am thinking it is because this computer is using a logitech keyboard??? I am trying to run scan disk but continue to get "windows or another program have been writing to this drive". I have shut all programs down or disabled but still get the message. I am hoping to succeed in safe mode. Can I access safe mode thru the run command?

Try this:
How to enable the Windows Me StartUp Menu; yup, the one you want to boot in Safe Mode or Command Prompt. No more guess work and frustrating keyboard hammering.
Click
Start
Run
Type msconfig
Click the OK button
Click the Advanced... button and check Enable Startup Menu
Click the OK button twice
Click Yes when asked to restart your computer
Use the same procedure to turn the boot menu on and off as you desire.
The startup menu should pop up and wait for you to make one of the choices.
