I have three 3Com switches two 4500 and one 3250 that is existing and that I cannot power down as stated in the 4500 manual. I have mixed media fiber and copper sfp interfaces and with the three switches I made a circle. The stack cables need to be straight thru or back to back? Should I be able to ping the ip address on vlan 1 and do I need ip addresses on vlan 4093?

Confusion.

Are you stacking the three? Or what?

You can only stack the two 4500s together (in tha manual, page 65).

When I stacked my 4500s I used a straight cable not a (cross-over) The LEDs looked weird but once I got in to the console I could see the stack was behaving as advertised.

Have Fun! [afro2]
