Hi,
I currently use another CAD program (Vectorworks). in this program Im able to set the layers to be visible only when active. I then am able to activate each layer much like turning a page of a book- the title block is located on a layer that is set to ' always visible' (much like paper space). Each layer is also able to have its own scale.
I cant seem to acomplish the same in autocad-
any suggestions?

Thanx in advance.

BTW- thankyou KeyTek for your help in my previous post

Aloha,
Dave

If you are wanting to have one layer on in viewport 'a' and off in viewport 'b', You can freeze layers in the current viewport only. ( I hope I read your question correctly).. if not , please give the version of autocad and maybe the group can give you a step by step ..

Thanx for your reply, I really appreciate the help Ive recieved in this group.
Im useing r14 and I think Im trying to use only one viewport and toggle the visibility of layers to display in the viewport. I also need the ability to change the individual layer's scale.
I think this would be the quickest way for me to draw multiple page legal size documents and print.
Its not uncommon for my drawings to run into 50+ pages.
If you have other suggestions for organizing my workspace please let me know.

If you are drawing (for example: a house) I would draw the house in it's own file, then xref that file into multiple "sheet" drawings (contains the title block). Then you can turn layers on and off as needed in the different sheet drawings. You could put all the "sheets" in one drawing file, but that would make the thing run really slow.
