I have the need to merge 2 wire closets, both with stand alone 5510s. When I stack them will I lose my port configs? Will I need to reconfigure VLAN settings and port speed/duplex settings?

General rule of thumb is if they both have the same firmware & isvn number they should be ok but in my experience the second 5510 joining the base may reset to factory default & Vlan 1,so make a note of settings .You will need to change your switch ip address to a stack ip address when teamed and remember to set base "On" for first 5510 & "off" for second one.
Always wise to tftp a config copy to you pc.
Hope this helps

I did it last night. Switch #2's config was lost. Since it was all the same VLAN except for 2 ports it was a relatively simple rebuild. Also one of the VLANs on switch 2 did not exist on switch 1, so it had to be defined. In retrospect it makes a lot of sense.
There is something in the documentation about backing up/writing individual unit configurations so I might have been able to 'inject' the old config back in, but for me, setting 46 ports into one VLAN and two into another was the approach to take.

Thanks
