I have a customer who reports an error when my app closes down. It seems to be related to Vista, as I have a colleague who has tried in on Vista and seen the same problem. All our current customers have been using XP, so this is new to me. Can anyone suggest what might be causing such an error? I have no idea what this means or where to start. The problem signature is below:

Any help much appreciated.

Okay, one thing to recognize about Vista is that it changed quite a few of the application rules regarding things. One of them involves what programs running under it can't and can't do with files (to attempt to thwart malware things, as well as several "DLL Hell" related bugs).

For what I find, this should enlighten things regarding this problem:

It seems this error equates to: "Module not found." If I recall from my brief time playing around with Vista RC2, one of those things done was to limit what "shared files" can be placed into "Program Files" and "Windows".

It seems as a good suggestion for what I read about this bug, it would be wise for you, if you intend to support Vista (market share of it is only going to grow, given what Microsoft is), to get a copy of it and test your software there, and then release a new version with the required changes.

Thx Glenn
I think I know what is causing it - I use a third party protection component and if I don't protect the software there is no error.

I will shortly have a Vista install to test with. It just shows how little Vista is used in some environments that this has never cropped up before (we have over a thousand installations out there).

thx again for your comments

More likely it shows how reluctant enterprises have been to adopt Vista because of vendors/developers failing to update their products for Vista compatibility. Don't expect that to last long.
