I do a lot of work with SSMS on a remote connection. I have a 10 MB connection to the Internet and clients have at least a T-1. It seems like the editor in SSMS got substantially SLOWER when I went from 2005 to 2008 R2.

Has anyone else noticed this? I don't think it's my imagination, but I don't know what might be causing it either. I use Red Gate's SQL Prompt, but that's common to both my previous 2005 and current 2008 install.

1. Try disabling the SSMS intellisense.

2. Try working on a remote desktop connection wherein the SSMS is installed on the remote workstation which is connected to the LAN.

Disabling SSMS Intellisense helped a lot. I can't use RDP in most cases as I don't have licenses for all the tools I use on every client's servers. That's too bad, as RDP on a 10 MB connection is very snappy!
