SSL problem in windows

i have tomcat 5.0 running via ssl on linux, but have had no success on windows xp home.

i get the standard page cannot be found error when i use

http://localhost:8443

but nothing ever appears in the log.

can someone help me out here ???

You said you are running SSL, shouldn't the URL be https://localhost:8443.

I take it you uncommented the SSL connector in server.xml and ran the keystore routine ?

indeed i did run the keytool.

browsers default the https port to 443, and http to port 80.

You should set you SSL connector to 443, and then just use the URL such as :

https://server/resource

.

The browser may not be willing to communicate SSL over a non-default-SSL port ...
