I'm a SSL newbie, trying to make sense of IIS and WebSphere 6.1 ND. For testing, I'm not sure if I have to generate a certificate from IIS and load into WAS or generate a certificate from WAS and load into IIS. Many IBM documents talk about this, but doesn't tie IIS and WAS together. Also, do I configure WAS at the cell level as well as the node level? Both web server and WAS are on the same server, btw. Thanks for all the help I can get!

I don't know much, but I am aware that IIS handles certificates completely differently from WebSphere. To the point that a cert created in IIS is nearly impossible to import into WAS. I found it much better to create all certs on WAS and then export them so they can be imported into other app servers: IIS, Apache, EAServer, etc.

I know that I had to get specific instructions from IBM Support to be able to get SSL working between WAS and the HTTP server. Good luck - you can win this battle, but know that it won't be easy.
