Hi,

I have successfully setup SSL between the server and clients by installing a certificate and checking Force Protocol Encryption in the Client Network Utility. Everthing works fine except that all jobs contained in a maintenance plan fail when the encryption setting is turned on. Once it is turned off, the jobs run fine. Any suggestions?

Thanks,

Minnyman

Look at the Jobs folder in Management. See the properties of the relevant job. Change the owner (probably sa at the moment) to a valid NT login.
Hope this helps

Hi Tony,

Thanks responding. The job was running a system stored procedure, master.dbo.xp_sqlmaint, I wasn't able to change the owner of this procedure. I did try running that job step as an NT user, but this didn't work. Any other suggestions?

Thanks,

Steve

I think yo are trying to change the owner of the Stored Procedure. I was talking about the owner of the Job itself. If you look at the 'properties' of the Job, on the 'General' tab there is a drop down list box called 'owner'.

What is the current owner, is it sa ?(which is a SQL Server login) or is it NT Login (of format like 'Domain\User')?
It needs to be a NT Login if SSL is to work.

Also check the NT User account that the SQLServerAgent is using to logon. Again it should NOT be LocalSystem but a valid Administrative NT Login account.

Let me know how it turns out.
