We are looking at possibly implementing SSL VPNs sometime in the future and are looking at either adding the SSL module to our Contivity 2700 and 1700 at failover site or utilizing the Alteon SSL capibilies (we have and 2424 SSL already). Is one way better than the other? What experiences have other have with the different implementations?

Functionality wise they're both the same - you get SSL VPN capabilites either way. Since the SSL VPN blade in the C1700/C2700 has it's own processor, throughput isn't hurt for the SSL users (unlike some other products out there), and it doesn't hurt the IPSEC/PPTP performance for client or branch office connections.

I haven't worked on the 2424, but the 3050 and 3070 boxes do a good job - I think those were derived from the 2424's.
