SSL ActiveSync through Windows NLBS

I have an inconsistent problem with a two-node Windows Network Load Balanced IIS web "farm" that hosts OWA on two Exchange front-end servers.

On some Windows Mobile devices, I have to disable the "this server requires SSL" in order for it to sync. On others, it works with it enabled.

WNLBS appears to be configured properly: certs installed on both nodes, 80 and 443 are set to single affinity and when browsing to OWA to the virtual IP, it requires SSL, which tells me SSL is enforced..

Any ideas?
