I am almost certain that I have seen an article about this somewhere.... I have a backup 3C8462 router for disaster recovery purposes. How do I back up my primary router configuration and download it to the backup?

From memory it had something to do with the DUMP command, but if anyone knows the procedure - or can point me to a web location it would be much appreciated.

Thanks

Due to it's age, I'm hoping this thread has already been answered. But I thought someone elese may come across it looking for the same answer.

I recomend a TFTP server (one is on 3Coms download site).
The simpilest way is to copy the current config to the TFTP server. Then copy it from the TFTP server to your backup or config the backup to boot from the TFTP server.

Example copy command:
from router to TFTP
co a: <file name> <ip of TFTP>:<dest dir><filename>
such as co a: boot.29k 172.1.1.1:configs\boot.29k

from TFTP to router
co 172.1.1.1:configs\boot.29k boot.29k (default location)
or co 172.1.1.1:configs\boot.29k A:\boot29k (for the NB floppy drive)

An * can be used to grab all the config files or you can specify each. For the NB the image is binary.cmp, for the NBII the image is boot.29k, and for the Remote office it is boot.68k
Also the Remote office image is located in the /Primary directory. You can also download to either a /Test or /Secondary directory for booting from a test image without sacraficing your "production" config.
