I have a BEFVP41 router with VPN. To connect to it remotely, I have been using SSH Sentinel v. 1.13. It had worked fine in my other two computers. However, when I tried to move to a new computer, I have been having a problem. My remote computer connects to the Internet through a wireless router (an SMC, not that it matters). When Sentinel is installed, however, I have problems using Wi-Fi connection. Although I can connect to the local network, I cannot reach the Internet. Moreover, the IP address on the computer is wrong. Instead of being within the IP range that it receives from the SMC router (which also acts as the DHCP server), it has an automatic IP (169.254.192.14, subnet 255.255.0.0). However, when I have it hard wired into the network using the Ethernet connection, the IP address is fine, not only for the wired connection, but also for the Wi-Fi connection. The computer that is having this problem is a Vaio 505BX, which has built-in a Lan-Express Wi-Fi chip. I have looked for an updated driver, but Sony has none. I think a company named "Ambit" makes the drivers, but their Taiwan-based web site is down. When I uninstall the Sentinel client, everything works. I even tried reinstalling the original version of the Wi-Fi driver.
I do not know what to do. Suggestions appreciated.
