All,
Using PuTTY from a 2003 server to a solaris machine it places the hostname as the title of the window. The hostname is incorrect however (XYZ).

The solaris box knows its name is ABC and from the 2003 server I can ping ABC (correct IP as well). I cannot ping XYZ.

netstat shows XYZ on port 22 - which tells me it has resolved that name somehow. If I then tell putty to connect to ABC - the hostname is still XYZ!

There is nothing in the hosts file, nothing in WINS, nothing in DNS that has XYZ specified.

Anyone know what's going on?

What do you have set for your windows title?

Go into you putty configuration then under window > behavior.
