what options do I have as far as starting the ssh client
Using the tray to start the only option.

Can I use the xp vpn client to connect to the befvp41 from linksys
what other free client can I use
Thanks

the second phase proposal failed, the preshared key passes
am I missing something on the client side?
I followed the instructions for the vpn config on the router.

Ok I was able to create the tunnel.
Now I cant access the resources, I have netbios enabled on the router side and the client side. any more suggestions

Which client are you talking about?

If you use SSH Sentinel, Netbios bradcastst - fortunately - do not work.

You can access remote resources by \\rem.ote.LAN.ip\remoteshare

I'm using ssh, what other clients can I use?
Im using the standard adsl speedstream 5360 cable modem that pacbell provided.
the tunnel is created and it indicates connected on the vpn side. I just cant see the network

Netbios broadcastst do not work -> you do not see the remote network.

You can either log into domain or use shared resources of remote network by \\rem.ote.lan.ip\remotesharesource.

Enjoy

I can map a drive using \\ipaddress\sharename
What do I need hardware\software
this is what I want to accomplish

Using vpn software connect to my network in my office
I need to browse the network.

any suggestions

Hello,
In order to browse the other side of the tunnel you need to create an LMHOSTS file that will point to your WINS server and you will be good to go.

lmhosts and wins?? lmhosts is an alternative to wins. You should use one or the other, not both. (Although you could use wins on the local net and lmhosts at remotes). Using both can create some extra traffic. wins is technically the preferred method, but lmhosts is much easier to set up in a small network.

Thank you gents for the info, every thing is working fine.
the lmhost file entries did the trick
