I RECENTLY BOUGHT A CORSAIR FORCE GT SATA 3 SOLID STATE DRIVE.IT WAS ADVERTISED AS "UNIVERSAL"AND COULD BE USED IN ANY LAPTOP.I DON'T THINK THIS COMPLETELY TRUE.I HAVE A TOSHIBA SATELLITE M35X-S161.THE FORCE SSD & THE TOSHIBA DRIVE ARE EXACTLY THE SAME SIZE BUT THE CONNECTORS ARE DIFFERENT.MY QUESTION IS THIS:IS THERE AN ADAPTER OF SOME KIND THAT WILL LET ME USE THE NEW FORCE SSD?

Well, the corsair is universal, to other machines that can use SATA, yours is too old, and uses IDE (PATA). They do make converters for SATA to IDE, and vice versa, But you won't have the room in a laptop to employ them. Your best bet is either buy a new laptop, for the new drive to go into, or try to get a refund and purchase a ssd drive that is made for IDE. You can see if something like This would work, it is a very small converter. Here is a link to a PATA SSD Link

Correct, there is no real way to adapt a PATA laptop to either a regular SATA hard drive or SSD hard drive. It's theoretically possible to build an adapter, BUT then the laptop + adapter won't fit in the specified space.

I'd return it, save for a new laptop or use it in a desktop for faster boots.

"Universal" - they meant in all modern era (read SATA-equipped) laptops. Don't worry, I still have a PATA laptop that someone gave me. I take it on the road every day with me. Better than dragging a "good" laptop out into the world.

Just looked at this again and I see a needed correction:

It's theoretically possible to build an adapter, BUT then the laptop hard drive caddy + adapter won't fit in the specified space.
