I am trying to convert some P1510 units to a solid state drive, it's a customer XP image from a 40GB IDE so I don't have the luxury of rebuilding it on the SSD from scratch, can only clone it over. the 1510 is an IDE only system board so I'm hooked up through an adapter board. it doesn't initialize the drive during post, just hangs for awhile then searches for next boot device, etc until it goes to boot error. This is on 6 different units. occasionally it will post, but will eventually blue screen or stop being seen again on a future boot. crazy part is, I can hook the PS directly to system board and it will see the drive and boot (95% of the time). you'd think PS cable, but it's not. can use any cable and it won't boot, and this is ONLY with SSD. IDE or even SATA through the same adapter board works fine every time. there is next to nothing for line loss through the cable for all voltages, it's a non factor, but SOMETHING changes when the PS is right into the board. This is an old system, old tech, and I don't think it is stable with SSD but I need to get some more opinions on this, hopefully one of you are familiar with their level of compatibility. Sorry for the long post, there's alot to say!
