Interesting Problem. My Lab PBX (CS1000S) is scrolling BUG6345 Errors. I reboot the PBX to clear and I receive a message that states:

CIOD174 Directory U/PATCH/RETEN Corrupted. Please replace the removable media. Otherwise REINSTALL SOFTWARE on the hardisk after using TOOLS MENU to INITIALIZE unprotected partition.

I go to the Install Menu and there is no prompt for INITIALIZING the partition.

Am I Going to the right menu?

Is this possible on an SSC Card? or do I need to replace the Software Daughter Board.

Thanks for your help

What release are you on? you could re-install all of the patches. Re-install patches re-write U/PATCH/RETEN.

System is 4.5.

I tried that. It seems that the Flash Memory is locked or faulty. I can't write to it at all.

Make a backup of the current data and try re-install. At the boot up screen when it ask for install HIT CTRL I, at the main menu pick install from delivery daughter board.

Tried that as well.

It seems that the system memory is locked or faulty. Thats why I'm asking about this TOOLS MENU that can initialize the unprotected partition

Is this of any help?.

File RETEN.PCH is designed to retain patches after INI or Reload. This file sometimes becomes corrupt, resulting in patches going OOS after INI or RELOAD.

The solution:-
Login to PDT
Change directory using command cd c:/u/patch (option11C) or cd /u/patch (opt51c to 81c)
Ensure all patches are OOS, Use command "pstat"
Use command poos # to take patches out of service.
Change directory using command cd c:/u/patch/reten (option11C) or cd /u/patch/reten (opt51c to 81c)
List files in this directory using command ll (LL in lower case)
remove files reten.pch or reten.tmp
Change directory using command cd c:/u/patch (option11C) or cd /u/patch (opt51c to 81c)
Reload all patches using commands "pload # " & " pins # "
When first patch is reloaded you will see a message saying " file reten.pch does exist, new file created"
This has recreated the file reten.pch that you removed

If it's working, then leave it alone!.

Thanks for the advise firebird. I tried it but I was unable to resolve. I've tried to read/write to the disk to no avail. I can't even run a "ll" command. I get an unable to read directory error.

I'm guessing the flash is fried.

Any last thoughts? My guess is a new SSC card and reload the software

Your SSC card is OK!. The daughterboard is corrupted and needs to be formatted and reloaded with new software, keycodes etc. Please follow my guide
