I am setting up a raid_5 set on one of the nodes. I have changed the status of the disk to candidate for array but when I go to add the raid set rather it be in smitty or command line I get the error:

Member xxxxxxxxxxx is not a valid candidate.

But as I said if I list candidates they show up as free and ready. Any ideas or has anyone else ran into this problem on 4.3.3?

Thanks for the help :)

tcorum,

I have had this problem myself, it turned out on both occassions to be that the disk may have been part of a different RAID array and just needed to be re-formatted.

Perform the format through SSA service aids on the pdisk and re-try. This should sort the problem.

Cheers PSD
