Hy experts,
I have the following problem:

Environment:
1 x 7013 J40 AIX 4.3.3 ML08 SSA-Adapter 4-I
1 x 7012 G30 AIX 4.3.3 ML08 SSA-Adapter 4-D
7133 020 with 16 x 4,5GB Disks

Problem:
I want to connect the two servers to the 7133 to build up a HACMP Test Cluster. (I know I should have to SSA -Adapters, but its only for testing takeover scripts (SAP R/3)).
If I connect both servers to the 7133 and run a cfgmgr on one of the systems the cfgmgr can't find any disk.
If I connect only one system to the 7133 the cfgmgr finds all the disks.(It doesn't matter which system I connect to the 7133, so I think the Adapters are ok.)

So my question is:
Do I have a SSA-Adapter compatibility problem?
Or is it more likely a cabeling problem?

Here is how I did the cableing:

J40 ssa0 B1 -> 7133 Port 1
J40 ssa0 B2 -> 7133 Port 16
G30 ssa0 B1 -> 7133 Port 8
G30 ssa0 B2 -> 7133 Port 9

TIA
Axel

I'll bet only the J40 is seeing the disk, right ?

If you cable ports 1 and 16 to a single host, the automatic terminators put all disk on those 2 ports.

Try J40 ports 1 & 8
G30 ports 9 & 16.

Bill.

There are two very good RED BOOKS on SSA from IBM. Can be viewed on-line from IBM's web site. I found them to be very useful while configuring our HACMP.

How we connect the disk subsystems and the adapters is a key issue in SSA. Availability or Performance are the key questions to be asked. Depending on the answer our cabling startegy will defer.
