Hello
I was wondering - if I format a physical disk of 9.1 gb, it leaves me only 8.4 gb of space. What am I doing wrong? (doing it all from smit). What's the easiest way to "link" for example 5 ssa diskt in a volume gloup and then create a logical group, and then one filesystem in it without smit?

It 's normal when you add a disk to VG (format a disk),
Because system will reserve some space for system use --
for exapmle VGDA and so on.

smit is easiest way to deal with storage in AIX for a new guy,
If you want to know how to type command to do same thing in smit,
press F6 (or ESC-6) to see which command or script smit used.

New to SSA, hard to believe these days. SSA disks are listed as pdisks and have odm hdisk entries. You will have to use mkvg, mklv, and crfs to create what you need. Its all in the man pages or the sys admin book on the web, You should also man ssaxlate - it will help pinpoint what disk to pdisk relationships you have.
