SRW224G4P connecting to a SPS2024 Switch

Hi,

I am having a problem where i am trying to do something very simple (or so it would seem!!)

I have two Linksys switches:

SRW224G4P running version 1.3.1 (latest i believe)
SPS2024 running version 1.0.2 (again latest i believe)

What i am trying to do is uplink the 2 switches so that i can talk/send packets between each other, one has an IP Address of 192.168.1.251 and the other has 192.168.1.252 but i cannot ping between them.

The switches have a completly flat config with only the default vlan and IP Addresses configured.
I can give my laptop a static address in the same range and plug into each switch and ping the ip address ok.

Is there any additon setup required as i believe that this scenairo should work ok.

Any thoughts would be much appreciated.
