I'm pretty sure the answer is no, but I'm asking anyway. @=)

Has anyone managed a ComboBox, where you can choose multiple values to a parameter before the report data is display?

ISTR that this was only going to be available in SRS 2005, but I wanted to see if anyone managed it or a work around in 2000.

Thanks,

Only by having dependant drop down parameters:

1st parameter is a no. of pre-set groups of values. 2nd parameter allows selection of 1 item within the group or an "All" option. User can therefore seloect a "group" value for multiple items or drill down from the group to a specific item

We could learn a lot from crayons. Some are sharp, some are pretty and some are dull. Some have weird names and all are different colours but they all live in the same box.

That's pretty much what I thought. Ah, well. Time to tell the boss we need to upgrade to SRS 2005 (why we're running 2000 when we have SQL Server 2005 on most of our boxes, I don't know...)

we're in the same boat but no-one seems to know what the risk would be to our existing reports suite if we upgrade. Was meant to happen 6 months ago but until someone can find out what the risks are and what needs doing, it ain't happening !

From what I understand, SRS 2000 was the beta-version of SRS 2005 and was only released because people wanted a MS reporting tool to go with their current servers. (Read: MS was losing business to Oracle & the Crystal Report people over the issue). There should be no removed functionality, only added functionality & toys.

I haven't heard of anything being removed / depreciated anyway.

it's not the removal of data that is a concern - the report manager etc has changed. It is more how the links to the new report manager would need to be migrated and whether the reports would still sit in the same location or whether they will move - we have a few apps calling reports in a specified location so if they move, it is a lot of work....

Ah. I can see your problem. If I find out anything about it, I'll let you know. I assume your apps are currently using the link with defined folders as its deployment location?

yup - that would be correct

Any info would be appreciated as our systems team don't seem to know the 1st thing about RS configuration !

cheers for the offer

Not sure whether this is of any use but we have just upgraded to SRS 2005 from SRS 2000 and ended up with both versions on the same server. We have 2 links, and
Have a look at the following link from the Microsoft site, It does have a couple of questions which relate to upgrading and one of them specifically for applications using the report server.

Thanks

In Microsoft SQL Server 2005 Reporting Services by McGrawHill / Osborne press (author Brian Larson), he states that "The Reporting Services installation creates a website called Reports". Essentially, once 2k5 is installed, you can surf to www.MyRSServer.com/Reports.

This seems very obviously NOT the same as the SRS 2000 since the deployment site in 2000 is <box>/Reports. HOWEVER, when I go to the details on deploying reports (pages 410-420), it actually does tell you to deploy to which is exactly the same as 2000.

So, the website appears to be a user friendly "new" feature while the deployment appears to be exactly to the same paths in the newer version as it did in the older version.

I think you are officialy safe if you upgrade. @=)

cheers Catadmin - will take it up with our systems team
