Squirrel 3.35 credit card masking

We're using Squirrel 3.35B and want to mask (replace with asterisks) the credit card numbers that print on the receipts. Squirrel support originally said it could be done, then retracted that statement. I still have no solid yes/no answer from them. They also suggested we purchase an upgrade to at least ver 3.5.

Anyone know if our version is a lost cause?
