squid help needed

i have a dialup connection to which i want to configure my squid to autodial when ever a user connects to the proxy server.i tried configuring it but in vain.
it is working fine if i manually dial out.
pls help me out in this.

You want squid to provide Dial on Demand Proxy services..
I don't know if it can provide that.

At worst you could write a rule for iptables
to support a redirect to a unix sock binding
say , wvdial or something.
Maybe squid supports this type of redirection, I don't know. I know iptables/xinetd supports redirects in this way.

You have to set up dial on demand for the interface - its nothing to do with squid as such. Squid assumes a permanent connection.
