Hi,

Anyone else come across with the following problem:
We are running Squid proxy server and I've got a PC in the network with Windows XP SP1, which runs wuauclt.exe in order to do the automatic updates.

The proxy blocks the update process and I get a message grsec: From [IP} signal 6 sent to (squid: [#]) UID([#]) EUID([#]), parent (squid:[#]) UID(0) EUID(0).

After a while the proxy promptly falls over.

There is a debate about Trojan that has same file name - I have checked the reg editor and this is not the problem.

I have another machine running XP SP2 and it is giving the same error on squid but doesn't bring the proxy down.

Any ideas?

Hi, windows XP computers behind a proxy server can no longer use windows update to ensure that only "legitimate" XP boxes will receive the updates.

We were forced to use SUS (software update service) server at work for that reason.

Try to connect with a modem on these same machines and this will surely work...

Hope this helps. Please let me know if this resolve your issue

Jeff
