Squashed letters during data entry

I have a Paradox 9 form into which information is typed into fields. The data displays ok after cursor leaves the field, but during the data entry process, the letters are squashed together to the left, almost overlapping, so that it's difficult to read until the entry is complete and cursor goes to next field. I am using Arial 8 bold font for the field text. What is the cure?

That sounds like a display adapter problem - try changing the display settings in windows, or run the program on another machine to see if it exhibits the same behavior. I can't think of anything in Paradox that would cause that effect.
