sqlservr server starting automatically?

HI All,

I have a sql server instance on a virtual pc. i am trying to apply sp3 but when i stop the service, it automatically restarts, i have checked the recovery tag in the properties of the service and it set to 'take no action' so i was wondering if anyone knew where the command might be coming from?

Is your monitoring software trying to restart the service? Check the event logs and see if it says why the services is being restarted.

thanks for that, i checked the logs and sure enough there is a third party software restarting the service
