hi,

I have a job on hand and iam really struggling in it.

There are two databases 1.SQLserver and 2.Access

Data is residing in the Access database and now i got to
get the data from the Access database and populate it into the Sqlserver.I need to make this automatically, i.e both the databases should communicate with each other and so the data must be ported automatically.

can someone help me in achieving this.

thankyou

1) for a one off, use the upsizing wizard in access to create the sql tables. I then created an mdb linked to both and ran queries to copy the access stuff to sql. If there is an awful lot of data, this can get very slow, so drop the sql indexes, run the queries and re create them.

2) Do you need the update to run more than once? Use the same mdb to do a selective update.

Its all very painless actually, at least with access 97 and sql 6.5 or 7. Don't know about others.
