hi all

im hoping i can get some help on the setup of our recently purchased EMC AX4-5i.

i have 3 arrays setup on 10 of the discs. which will be used for SQL;

D is a 2 disc raid 1 setup
E is a 2 disc raid 1 setup
F is a 6 disc raid 10 setup

is used diskpart to create F "unit=8K" and "align=2048"

from using sqliosim, i really do not sem to be getting the desired performance out of the raid 10 setup, even teh 2 disc setups seem to be better !!?? the results are

F final stats:
Target IO Duration (ms) = 100, Running Average IO Duration (ms) = 29, Number of times IO throttled = 785, IO request blocks = 37
Reads = 10841, Scatter Reads = 26907, Writes = 955, Gather Writes = 24853, Total IO Time (ms) = 3134464

D:
Target IO Duration (ms) = 100, Running Average IO Duration (ms) = 15, Number of times IO throttled = 505, IO request blocks = 110
Reads = 10783, Scatter Reads = 27137, Writes = 473, Gather Writes = 25136, Total IO Time (ms) = 2121856

My bet is the raid 10 is using the top 4 drives, which are vault or system disks, and are used by the SAN o/s. And normally are slower than the rest.

What are the disk IDs for each RAID Group?
