Hi,

I tried to connect with a modeling tool Cognos framework manager to a db2 database. I created an odbc connection to the db2 database and i am able to see and load the meatdata of those tables in my framewok model. But when i want to join two tables i get the following error.

[IBM][iSeries Access ODBC Driver][DB2 UDB]SQL5001 - Column qualifier or table 'xxxxxx' undefined.

from the IBM site:

SQL5001 - Column qualifier or table &2 undefined.
Change your naming convention in your ODBC DSN.

Probable cause:

Your ODBC Data Source Name (DSN) configuration uses the wrong naming convention. Use the ODBC Administrator to change your DSN to use the proper (*SQL or *SYS) naming convention. Always use *SQL unless your application design specifically expects *SYS.

i'm new to db2 and i can't fing the CORRECT naming convention of a ODBC DSN.

how can shine some light on this issue??

thx!

That depends on your platform. Are you running DB2 on unix/linux, windows, OS400, or Z-OS?

If you edit your DSN, you should find a drop down on the server tab called naming convention. This should be set to *SQL. It sounds like you might have it set to *SYS.

Thanks for the response! ;-)

The DB2 database is installed on a unix server and we make a connection from a windows 2003 server.

I will check the server tab first thing nect week!

thanks again
