Does anyone know if there is a standard for SQL? I'm looking for something like ANSI's standards. I don't know if ANSI came out with standards for SQL, but if so, could someone point me in the right direction?

I appreciate any and all help in this matter. Thanks in advance! ~[ cid ]~

Yes, ANSI has had a SQL standard since about 1986. This link will give you an overview.

SQL 3 was ratified in 1999 and is the latest SQL standard and there are various other SQL standards based upon ANSI SQL. ANSI SQL provides only a lowest common denominator and leaves lots of advanced funtions open to interpretation, especially in terms of how to implement syntax. That is why there are so many SQL variants and if you use the advanced features you cannot easily port from one type of SQL to another.
