Hi,

I have been told by a customer that because they have SQL 2008 Standard Edition, they can have SQL installed on two servers. One install being their live production server and the secondary being a backup server.

I have looked into it, and I can't find anything anywhere that states you can have two installations.

Has anyone else heard of this? Any advice?

Thanks.

That is not permitted ... you can have multiple "instance" of SQL server but it has to be on the same physical machine.

Having a backup and a production server would require 2 licenses.

Thanks
