Hi all,

This thread is written by someone who has never touched SQl Server before.

We have a web server with SQL 2000 installed. Last night the server was rebooted and since then the server service will not start. The error in the event log is:
Event ID 17055
17050:
interrlog: Could not open error log file 'D:\Database\MSSQL\log\ERRORLOG'. Operating System error = 5(Access is Denied.).

I have no idea what the permissions should look like on the file/folders in question. Rebooting the server again has made no difference.

Please help a complete newbie (in this area) out!

TIA

1.if the folder doesnt exist. try to create the folder.
2.whatever the service logon you are using , that login should have read and write permissions on the that folder.
3.If you have a copy of previous weeks errorlog ,copy that error log file to that location

ClaireHSU,

Thanks, somebody had been through the folders and removed the system account fromall of them 8). All is fine now.
