Hi,

i've got a Problem restoring a SQL Server Database. Arcserve
Version is 11.1, SQL Server is SQL Server 2000. The Backup fom which i want to restore is ok (i tried to different backups). In the restore log i get the following error:

E8617
Failed to end restore. (DBNAME=AspenBatch, EC=M1227IP21:[SQL Server] szSqlState = 37000,fNativeError = 5105, errMsg = [Microsoft][ODBC SQL Server Driver][SQL Server]Device activation error. The physical file name 'D:\MS_SQL\AspenBatch_dat1.mdf' may be incorrect.)

In the Enterprise Manager you see the Database in the state
loading. But there happens nothing and the database is inaccessible.

What should i do? I don't know too much about SQL Server. We
backup through SQL Server Agent and i thought everything is ok. Until now:-((

TIA
Markus

Were you restoring to the original location or did you choose another server or another db name? Are you restoring over an existing database?

Thanks,
Debi

I restored to the original location. I tried both, restoring over an existing DB also as deleting the crashed DB and then do the restore.

Thanks,
Markus

Do you see this file on the sql server:
'D:\MS_SQL\AspenBatch_dat1.mdf'
or any .mdf files in this directory?
Do you have space on the disk?

Debi

Thank you DebiJo,

i think the Problem is solved. I restored the DB
to another DB Server without any Problems. It is
a problem with this specific Server.
The dat1.mdf file and the log file is restored but the
DB doesn't work. It maybe a service which blocks the
DB or something else. There are several Apps on this Server.
We will try to solve this problem with the application experts the next days.

Thanks for help!

Markus
