HI There,

if you have a database with 2 log files on separate disks and you run an optimization job to rebuild indexes, how does sql server decide which log to use for then rebuild process. on a certain database i have seen one or the other log grow with each run of the optimization but never both.

Any ideas?

Thanks,

Niall

All log usage in SQL Server is somewhat linear. One logfile will be used until the system gets to the end of it, then the system will switch to the other logfile. Only datafiles are used in a round-robin manner.
