I had to reformat my hard drive and reinstal SQL Server. I backed up the Databases that I didn't want to lose.

Now that I have reinstalled SQL Server, I have copied the database back to the Data folder. Obviously, this is not the only thing that has to be done.

How do I re-register the databases -- if that is what it is called -- so that they show up inside the SQL Server Management Console?

Thanks.

If your databases are actually backups and not detached and copied, you will need to restore them one at a time using Enterprise Manager.

1. Right click on databases
2. Select All Tasks - Restore Database

If you did detach them, you only need to re-attach them.

1. Right click on databases
2. Select All Tasks - Attach Database
