sql server jobs hang ( not sure where to post this)

sorry if I posted this in the wrong place,
none of the forums macthed this problem I'm having.


problem:
running sql server 2008 on windows server 2003.
the jobs are trying to read data from a database on an AIX box.


all jobs run without issues, most of the time.
so far three times this month all jobs ( 10+ ) just never finished.

some jobs only that a minute others take 2 to 3 hours.
none are blocking.
there are no error in the event log.

the only thing I can see is that the jobs just don't finish.

what can I look at when this happens.
I don't see anything in sp_who2 or the windows events logs.

when they hang;
none are blocking.
