sql server installation

hello all

i am new at sql server.
Please let me know where i will be able to find free or
low cost installation files for SQL Server 2000 or 2005
for students.

If you take an approved Microsoft SQL Server class, you get a disk with a 'student' version of SQL Server. But you can't buy it anywhere.

Best two options are the ones given by Fredericofonseca and SQLDenis. MSDE is the very basic form of SQL Server and it doesn't have the Client Tools, such as Query Analyzer and Enterprise Manager.

Developer is probably your best bet....it just can't be used in a production environment.

MSDE with one of the free tools available to manage it is good enough.
I have posted several times a link to one such tool, and the particular one I use is only limited by the fact that it does not allow you to create DTS packages.
