SQL Server Express

Hi all

Just downloaded the SQL Server Express from MS site.

It wont instal saying my system doesnt meed minimum requirements - cant see why - rad the read me file and my system meets all it says - windows XP Pro SP1 or later - mine has SP2. Are there any issues over SP2 ?

Also with Express do you get QA and EM ?

It should have listed the requirements that were not met.

It doesnt - in the report that is generated it just says that it has failed the minimum system requirements - all other tests are passed.

It just says to check the minimum system req in the readme file which I have and my system meets them ?

Jay - do you know if you get QA and EM with Express.

They are "now longer" QA and EM. They have been incorporated into "Query Editor" and the new SQL Server Management Studio integrates the functionality of Enterprise Manager and Analysis Services from earlier versions of SQL Server

No...Beta installs with zero GUI. You'll need to download a sepeate gui for working in it. I have used to MS Web DB admin for admining the db but you'll still need some type of SQL parsing tool (winsql or such). There have been rumblings of a supposed Express Manager (comparable to Enterprise Manager) but it was supposed to be released in August and didn't release. Now it is suppose to release in November but who knows.
