Is there anyway to tell what application/machine is writing to the SQL SERVER LOG file?

Thanks in advance!!!

Only SQL Server on the physical server it is running on write to these logs.

Thanks

What about an ODS Event: Login entry?

Thanks in advance!!!

I do not beleive that is logged in the SQL Server Error logs.

Thanks

See that's my problem... that's what I thought too but it's happening... and I'm getting 2-3 of these a second

[surprise]

I'm working in a clustered environment and this seems to be happening ever since our last fail over... but the problem is is that additional auditing, monitoring, etc usually happens at the next reboot so I really have NO IDEA what is causing this to happen.

I'm cycling my SQL ERROR LOG file every night so the log file doesn't go huge on me.

Help :)

Thanks in advance!!!

What is the exact message you are getting in the Error Log?

MESSAGE: ODS Event: Login

That's the problem... NOT very descriptive

Thanks in advance!!!

Look in the Windows Application and System Event logs to see if there are any messages pretaining to the issue also. May find a little more to chew on in there.

Thanks

When I have seen multiple login attempts in my SQL Server Error log, especially if they were occuring several a second, it was due to something trying to map to the drive SQL Server was on.

Hey guys

JayKusch - Nothing in the Windows event logs

SQLBill - I don't think an ODS Event: Login is fired when trying to map a drive... but I could be mistaken... but the number of them that are firing off (2-3 a second) I don't think this is the case

Thank you both for your help... but I'm still stumped on this one :S

Thanks in advance!!!

IS there any other info in the SQL Server Error log entry besides what you have given us as ...

SOURCE: server
DATE: 2004-05-19 15:03:17.75
MESSAGE: ODS Event: Login

Thanks

J. Kusch

That's the difficult thing. That's all I get for info

Wish I could tell you there was more.

Thanks in advance!!!

Anyone have any examples of applications that would use ODS to connect to SQL Server?

The environment we're running is Peoplesoft CRM 8.4, with App Servers, Web Servers, Batch Servers

Does this spark any ideas?

Something to do with JDBC Java Database Connectivity perhaps?

Thanks in advance!!!
