SQL Server Error 18456 Severity 14 State 16 1

I have a unversity research project that requires SQL Server 2005 on Windows Server 2003. I have not used this version of MS SQL on this version of the OS before. I am trying to set up a single user and add him to the db_owner role. I am getting a SQL Error 18456, Severity 14, State 16 in the Database error log. Has anyone encountered this?

I didn't try the resolution in the Microsoft Knowledge Base. It says it refers to SharePoint. Mine is not a Microsoft Network. It's tcp/ip, with all the machines being Solaris, Linux, or Apple X-serves. I have one MS Win2K3 machine, running SQL Server 2K5. This is new and not my normal environment. I'm not running IIS or SharePoint, so I didn't think it pertained. I will try the parts that I can.

I pointed you to the article, because it tells you the cause of the error, and how to fix it. Doesn't really matter if you have Sharepoint, or IIS loaded, as the resolution can help with other errors within SQL.
