Endpoints are goners. For whatever reason.

My question is, are SQL 2008's "Service Brokers" the same thing as 2005's "Endpoint Services?" Are Service Broker's also going away?

Where did you here that Endpoints are going away? Every time you connect to the SQL Server you connect through an endpoint.

No Service Broker is not going away. Database mail, and database mirroring are both built on SQL Service Broker.

"In SQL Server 2008, Native XML Web Services (SOAP/HTTP endpoints) is deprecated; Native XML Web Services will be removed from a future version of SQL Server. Plan to convert your existing SOAP/HTTP endpoints to use Windows Communications Foundation (WCF) or ASP.NET. Avoid using SOAP/HTTP endpoints in new development work."

Maybe I'm misunderstanding or misusing the "endpoints" moniker? Or there's more to "endpoints" than just SOAP/HTTP endpoints?

Yes there are T/SQL endpoints, Database Mirroring endpoints, SQL Service Broker Endpoints, and then the SOAP/HTTP endpoints. Only the SOAP/HTTP endpoints are being removed.

Any time anything connects to the SQL Server you are connecting through an Endpoint.
