What is the difference between sql server desktop edition
and enterprise edition. Anybody can give light please.
The desktop edition is freely distributable with MSDE disk
which I have. Is there any copy right propreitary rights
if a developer distribute the desktop edition freely along
with software

EE supports ALL features of SQL Server and is for medium and large production database servers and scales out to support the performance level required for the large Web sites, enterprise OLTP, and large data warehouse systems (OLAP).

MSDE is for applications to use to store data without requiring any database administration from the end user It does not include any of the SQL Server utilities and tools that have graphical user interfaces. The size of its databases cannot exceed 2Gb and the performance is limited when more than five batches are executed concurrently.

In short, one is a full-fledged version and the other one is a light-weight one.

Thank you both.
You saved me a lot of R&D
