SQL Server collation

Folks,

Having been through 2 test installations of SharePoint (one MOSS 2007, one WSS 3.0) I have only just noticed that the Microsoft instructions talk about configuring the SQL Server collation and SQL Server Database collation.

Does anyone know the implications of not doing this?

Has anybody else even noticed that it is recommended?
