sql server 2000 w/ db running on one server. All data is pushed to second server. This set up was running fine until user with elevated privelages reset all permissions on shares on second server. SQL server can no longer find shares to dump data. My question is -- if user was able to set permissions to only that user --- what permissions would have to be reinstated on the shares for the SQL server to dump data? I appreciate the help.

Whatever logon that SQL Server agent uses would probably have to have permissions on the shares. Do this immediately after you remove priviledges from said user. And make sure he is informed in writing as to the consequences should he do such a thing again. This should be in the form of an official warning that goes in his personnel file.
