I am going to order a dell server that will be running sql2008 express.

Can anyone recomend any server/hardware configs for the server.

I am asumming i want to put the database files on a seperate drive and have some sort of redudancy.

I am looking for some expert advise here.

Thanks

Nick

it depends completely on what you're going to be using SQL for, how much data will be stored in it, the kinds of response times required, etc.

As of right now i have a few different DBs.

1) Main DB (Approx 700mb)(Many Read and writes all day)
- Has about 35 people hitting the db all day
2) Another DB (Approx 500mb)(Little Read and Writes)
- Has about 25 pople hitting it all day
3) Another DB (Approx 500mb) (Many reads all day)
- Has only 2 - 3 people running reports on this data.

I expect our main db to grow approx 300mb a year.

Any advice would be great thanks
