Hello, we have two SQL 2000 machines. One for production and one for fail over. Both have SP4 but the production server has a later build 2215 than the fail over 2039 (which is the SP4 build).

Should we be worried about the difference? MS says you should only install if there is a problem.

Thanks

Sounds to me like the production server had a problem and hotfix 2215 was applied.
SQL Server 2000 build 8.00.2215
924662 ( FIX: The query performance may be slow when you query data from a view in SQL Server 2000

If you need to failover to the other server and the hotfix is not applied you may end up with the same problem. In any event do some research to find out if the hotfix was needlessly applied in which case you are probably fine. According to MS your servers are up-to-date with the latest SP.

mk,
Thank you for the reply. The person whom installed the hotfix does not remember or have notes on why they did the hot fix but I am told even though the KB924662 is listed that the hot fix he has, has a different KB that is internal to Microsoft. Thus we are worried that the fix was for something else.

Thanks again,
djj

So when you go into control panel>>>Add or Remove programs what hotfix(s) do you see for SQL Server?

Best Regards,
mk

Hello, I have been out the last couple of days and will look at this when I get caught up.

Thanks
