The use must be running Windows and either log into the domain that contains the server or on the server directly. The username/password must match on the user/server/domain.
The SQL Server login for the user must be set up to use Windows Authentication.
In Enterprise Manager, expand down to Security>Logins. Click on logins, find the account. Right click the account select properties. On the General tab, what authentication is used?
You can not change authentications. You must delete the Login and recreate it.
